About our Corsets

Wedding Corsets

We offer a range of corsets, in bridal and other colours, including made to order and made to measure for both under and outer wear. Many of our wedding ensemble styles, incorporate either a separate corset, or corset style top, more lightly boned using proper couture methods. Many of our separates can be mixed and matched. You may wish to change a long train skirt to a shorter one for the evening or simply to use a part of your ensemble with other items. Our corsets can be worn as underwear or as a fashion top at a later date. To many, it makes sense to have further use of their purchase, rather than consign it to a wardrobe or loft.

Our high quality corsets are hand made using traditional methods and are designed and constructed so as to be both beautiful, comfortable and durable, whether made to measure, or made to order from your measurements. We feature corsets from the Edwardian and Victorian eras, some being authentic reproductions and others being modern designs, more suited to today’s wearer. We also accept commissions for clients who require a specific style or type, not featured in our normal ranges. The  best materials for the construction are always incorporated and can be faced with a with a top  layer of “fashion fabric” if required.

Made to Measure

We would always recommend this option, particularly for those who wish to use a corset for waist reduction or who wish to wear the garment for long periods. A well fitted corset can be comfortable and supportive, but you may not achieve this from an “off the peg” corset. If you are a standard size, you may be lucky, but common problems arise when corsets are  bought by waist size only; the most common being that the bust section is too large  or too tight, resulting in “overspill!” When our samples are for sale, we provide several measurements to prospective buyers to ensure a proper fit. In our made to measure range, a “toile,” or first fit corset is made, to be tried on and altered before the final corset is constructed. Initial measurements can be taken by clients using our self measurement form, or a personal consultation can be arranged by appointment.

Made to Order

Our made to order corsets use your measurements, using our self measurement form. It is important that this is done correctly and full instructions are provided on how to do this. As this is the only reference for us to make your corset, measurements must be accurate and must not be too optimistic! The degree of waist reduction, if required, should also be realistic, and is usually 2 to 4 inches less than the natural waist. Provided that a “lacing gap” is not a problem, those wearers who simply wish to form the body without reduction, perhaps  wishing to wear the corset for a wedding, or as a fashion garment, could wear it at, or just below their natural waist measurement. In this case, a lacing modesty panel is recommended and is standard on most of our ranges.
