Underneath It All – Foundations for vintage styled wedding dresses
Not all of us are size 8 or a perfect shape. For those who are not media model shaped or standard sizes, the made to measure route and choice of style is still the best way to compliment your figure on your special day. Boned bodices and built in foundations should give you the shape you desire,
The London Vintage Wedding Fair – Chiswick Town Hall, Sunday 13th November

We will be showing our dresses, corsets and accessories at this great fair put on by The Vintage Wedding Fair, our second time at this venue. This is a chance to see the style and quality of our work and also to have a chat with us about your dream dress.
Corset Styled Wedding Dress – Another re-structuring job
We have been brought yet another “designer” wedding dress with problems that need to be solved. After tackling several similar jobs, we know what to expect and how to fix a dress that feels unsubstantial, rolls over in various places on the bodice and does not offer enough control to keep a smooth line in the bodice.
New Photo Shoot at Felixstowe
Customers always comment on the great view from our studio so we decided to do the shoot at Felixstowe.
The great wedding photographer Chanon de Valois has done a great job for us, as have the five models who really got into the vintage swing of things. Chanon is based in London and has a unique style. She is enthusiastic about creating something different and inspirational for her clients.
We hope to have the photos on the site soon, together with some more user friendly features and a new home page, so watch this space!
Vintage Wedding Fair Harrogate – Sunday 18th September
The last show at Harrogate was a great success, with a wide range of exhibitors showing everything to make your vintage themed wedding a success. Be sure to visit us at the new show, where you will see some of our new 50′s sample dresses. Further details can be found on the link below.
Cover Up!
The 50′s short dress still seems to be the most popular style and we will be introducing something a little different. Sleeves and coverage above the bustline are both definitely making a comeback, both solid and semi transparent. Matching hem extensions and sashes can compliment these features and are also proving popular. Come and see our stand, look closely at our work, or just have a chat with us if you would like some advice. We won’t bite or do a sales job on you, so see you there!
Show Info
The show runs from 12 noon-5pm at the St George Hotel, 1 Ripon Road,Harrogate, HG3 2SY.
From Closed Back Wedding Dress to “Corset Dress”
The use of rear lacing in “Corset Styled” wedding dresses has been re- born in recent years. In addition to the fashion statement, there is an added bonus for “ready to wear” or “altered to fit” sellers, not to mention those brides whose weight “fluctuates” as many brides diet before the wedding and some put on weight.
Another benefit of lacing, is that old dresses can be converted to fit the new bride, within reason of course. So, is this the answer for all the above problems?
No Strap Bodice? Corsetry techniques to the rescue!

We were recently brought a traditional wedding dress to alter, that was made to measure for the client in China and it has to be said that it represented remarkable value for money. The bride to be, wanted it taking in however, as she considered it to be too loose at the bust, with a tendency to slip down. The design of the dress, having a long train and being constructed of heavy satin, did not help things, but the way it was constructed was contributing towards the problems.
Two New 50′s Dresses

50′s tea dresses can become a little predictable, unless you look for different styles, trim and ways of making, that can make the dress more individual.
Christening Dress – recycling for an heirloom update

We promised some better photos of this beautiful little girl in her gown, so here’s an update:
Beautiful Baby!
We were recently asked to make a christening gown from the grandmother’s wedding dress, made from lace with a satin underlay. This is the result, managing to use most of the lace and trim from the original dress, with just a little more silk to complete. There is more fabric in these dresses than you might imagine and the original was relatively short, so we gave the dress two tears and also managed to use the original lace trim on neckline, sleeves and bodice.
Apart from the eco friendly recycling aspect, the family now has an heirloom that no doubt will be used for future christenings and that has family history sewn in!
We enjoyed the “tiny sewing” experience and are happy to offer the same service to future customers. CONTACT US if this concept appeals to you or should you want a brand new gown for your baby’s special day.
